Nigerian Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja Command, says no fewer than 3(three) persons were abducted by unidentified gunmen on Pei-leilei road along Kwali Area on Wednesday.

The police authority said it rescued 19 persons from the kidnappers as they responded immediately to the situation that was brought to their attention through a distress call from a concerned citizen.

The police disclosed that the 19 abductors were rescued after a serious gun battle.

ASP Mariam Yusuf, Police Spokesperson, FCT Command in a statement on Thursday revealed that concerted efforts are being made to rescue the three victims who were taken into the bordering forest by their captors.

Yusuf said the operation was carried out by a joint team of Police officers from the Command who quickly responded to the occasion and engaged the heavily armed hoodlums in a fierce gun duel, and eventually arrested the situation.

The statement reads, “In a swift response to a distress call, the FCT Police Command rescued nineteen (19) persons from being kidnapped on Pei-leilei road along Kwali axis on Wednesday 25th November 2020.

“The successful rescue operation was conducted by a joint team of Police operatives from the Command who responded promptly to the occasion and engaged the heavily armed hoodlums in a fierce gun duel.

“However, a concerted effort is being made to rescue the remaining three (3) victims in the custody of the hoodlums who escaped into the bordering forest.
