A 20-year-old lady has been reportedly tortured to death by a police man in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa state, Nigeria.

The lady identified as Bilikisu Isa was said to have died from complications she sustained after she was allegedly tortured by the police.

According to an eye witness, the deceased was arrested on Monday, August 31,2020, alongside her friend, Rukayya Muhammed at Calvary Road by Bola Police Outpost in the Maraba area of the state.

The ladies were arrested after Bilikisu’s ex-boyfriend, “Abdul”, fled the scene. He had stolen N1.4 million from a car dealership center where he was employed by Lebanese national Jafar in Maitama. The dealership is located in Abuja.

Abdul mentioned Bilikisu by name when he was being tortured for stealing.

Bilikisu’s brother, Zakariya Isa, disclosed that the police arrested and tortured his sister for a whole day. The police later called her parents to take her. This was once they realized she was fainting.

The deceased’s friend, Rukayya Muhammed, said Bilkisu was forced to remove her hijab, and was repeatedly beaten with wire.

”The inspector slapped, flogged and hit Bilikisu, but he gave me his number, said that he likes me, and spared me from torture.” said Rukayya Muhammed.

“(Bilikisu) fainted in the station. He poured water on her.”

Rukayya added that the deceased was no longer in a relationship with the suspected Abdul at the time of this incident. They had been separated since last year. Still, the police picked her up and harassed her publicly calling her a “prostitute.” According to relatives, Bilikisu arrived home and began to bleed and vomit. She later died.
