Nigeria Army kills eight bandits, recover weapons in Katsina

Officers of the Nigerian Military have killed no fewer than eight bandits when a joint police-military patrol ambushed some bandits’ camps situated in Safana Local Government Area Council of Katsina State in a three-day operation that was completed on Sunday.
According to reports members of the operation equally recovered one Ak 49 rifle and burnt nine motorcycles belonging to the criminals during the hot encounter.
SP Gambo Isah, the Katsina State Police Command Public Relations Officer, confirmed the security success story in Katsina on Monday during a press briefing.
He revealed that the joint police-military operation took place behind Guzurawa and Garin Gambo communities in the state.
SP Isah said, “On 26/02/2021 and 28/02/2021, the Command in collaboration with Nigerian Army, jointly raided bandits’ camps at behind Guzurawa and Garin Gambo villages, both of Safana LGA of Katsina state, a notorious bandits’ enclaves. The operation succeeded and neutralized eight bandits, recovered nine burnt motorcycles, and one Ak47 rifle with five rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The onslaught against the menace of banditry, armed robbery, kidnapping, and other heinous crimes is ongoing.”
The command PPRO also disclosed that On 17, February 2021, at about 17:00hrs, the Kankara DPO and his team overpowered bandits who attacked Zango village, Kankara Local Government Area, during which one AK 49 rifle with three magazines was recovered.
SP Isah also talked about recent activities of the command, stating, “On 25/02/2021 at about 13:00hrs, Police Patrol Team, attached to Faskari Division, while on routine patrol along Funtua – Yankara road, accosted the trio of (1) Lawali Duna, ‘M’. aged 40yrs, (2) Muhammadu Lawali Babuga, ‘M’, aged 22yrs and (3) Hussaini Abubakara, ‘M’, aged 30yrs of Kunkurmi village, Bungudu LGA of Zamfara state, notorious members of a syndicate of bandits and kidnappers terrorizing Katsina and Zamfara states.
“Nemesis caught up with the suspects when they were intercepted on their way back to Zamfara State from Kaduna after collecting ransom money from the relatives of a kidnapped victim. In the course of the investigation, suspects confessed to the commission of the offense.
“On 22/02/2021 at about 16:00hrs, based on a tip-off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Usman Ahmed, ‘M’, of Sabon Barka Road, Dandume LGA of Katsina State, a notorious member of kidnap for ransom syndicate,” he added.
