No fewer than six people have been reportedly slain and scores of others wounded following attacks by suspected Fulani militia on Utsua Daa and Baafada villages around Gazabu and Takalafia communities in Bali Local Government Area Council of Taraba State.

A family member of one of the slain persons in the attacks, Tyokua Ayoo explained that unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen raided the communities on Thursday afternoon.

According to Ayoo, many persons were on the farm when the inferno occurred and they flee to Bali town without returning to their homes because of fear of being killed by the rampaging Fulani militia.

“The attack on Utsua Daa Village in Takalafia Ward happened around 10 am and two persons were killed, while that of Baafada in Gazabu and Mambilla Road happened around 2 pm claiming the lives of four persons,” said Ayoo.

“One person is missing and several people were injured and houses set ablaze.

“Some of those injured are receiving treatment at Santa Maria Catholic hospital in Bali.”

As at the time of filing this report, the Taraba State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP. David Misal said he was yet to receive a formal report about the incident.
