Suspected bandits kill 10, raze houses in fresh Kaduna raid

Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits in separate attacks have swooped some communities in Zango-Kataf and Chikun Local Government Areas Councils of Kaduna State, killing no fewer than ten persons and leaving others with various degrees of wounds.
Reports said, houses were burnt down, motorcycles stolen while bags of ginger were carted away after the attacks on the people of the Kurmin Gandu community in Zango-Kataf LGA.
It was gathered that the criminal elements attacked one of the villages on Sunday night, causing serious mayhem on the residents.
Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, on Monday confirmed the unfortunate incidents in a statement.
The Commissioner listed those gruesomely murdered at Kurmin Gandu as Ishaya Aboi, Regina Ishaya, Goodluck Dauda, Joseph Adamu, and Hassan Joseph; and these are all Christians.
He revealed that the military and other security agencies within the state have reported the killing of ten citizens in Zangon Kataf and Chikun Local Government Areas respectively.
In his words, “In Zangon Kataf, Kurmin Gandu Village was attacked by armed bandits, with five persons killed, listed as Ishaya Aboi, Regina Ishaya, Goodluck Dauda, Joseph Adamu, Hassan Joseph.
“In addition, 10 houses, two motorcycles, and 50 bags of ginger were set ablaze. Some dry season farmers lost water pumping machines and other valuables around the Zango Urban general area.
“Some survivors of the attack are recuperating in hospital. Meanwhile, search and rescue operations are in progress, and information arising from this will be communicated to the public.
“In addition, it took the military hours to contain what would have resulted in further violence in the general area,” he added.
In the same vein, the Commissioner disclosed that bandits attacked Sabon Gayan Village in Chikun Local Government Area Council and murdered four persons in cold blood whose names were said to be Ashahabu Abubakar, Mannaseh Matthias Danjuma, Ado Rilwanu, and Sabo Iliya.
He also stated that troops of Operation Thunder Strike are combing identified hooligans concealments in the Sabon Gayan axis, following security intelligence gathering that several bandits sustained bullet injuries.
Aruwan equally revealed that bandits attacked Ungwan Turai, also in Chikun Local Government Area, and killed one Ayuba Waziri.
Commissioner Samuel Aruwan stated that Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State expressed serious concern over the latest attacks and commiserate with the bereaved families of the victims.
