Another Department of Security Service (DSS) Officer working under Plateau State Command, Barrister Muktar Modibbo, have been reportedly killed by firearm smugglers, following a compromised operation.
He met his untimely death when gunmen in their business ring opened fire on him and his colleagues during a raid on their base in Shendam Local Government Area of the state.
According to a senior security officer, the gunrunners, who supply assorted weapons to gangsters that carry out criminal activities within the state, were initially traced to Qu’anpan Local Government Area by the DSS but the operation ended in futility after it was discovered that the security intelligence had leaked to the arms smugglers, who then swiftly diverted location to Shendam.
We gathered that after receiving a new intelligence that the gunrunners were in Shendam, the security agency constituted a team to burst their operation.
The team outing was, however, met with heavy shooting from the hoodlums, who were well equipped with sophisticated firearms and seemed to have had prior information about the raid and prepared ahead of time.
The outcome of the gun battle, resulted to the death of the officer.
“They (the gunrunners) also took his weapon, a Galil Automatic Rifle, and a few other things,” the source said.
Barr. Modibbo worked with the legal department of the DSS before he was murdered in cold blood.
His allies, family and friends have since taken to social media to mourn him and commiserate with his loved ones.
