Men of the Anambra State Police Command led by the Anti-cult grand Commander, SP Noel Uche of Enugu-Ukwu have apprehended a blind swindler in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area Council of the State.

The suspected criminal, Mr. Tochukwu Ikebuife also known as Mmanye was said to have specialized in spitting saliva in the palms of his victims and it will penetrate and appear at the other side (the back of the palm), which he uses to deceive and defraud his innocent victims.

Majority of the Ikebuife’s victims were young girls and boys who were sales representatives and apprentices serving their masters in different businesses at Onitsha Markets in the State.

The blind suspect believed to be from Ire, Obosi, was said to have hitherto swindled his victims out of huge sums of money ranging from N3000,000, N500,000, N850, 000 to N5000,000 respectively.

The news of the arrest was revealed when Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), led by its National President, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, paid a courtesy visit to the Anti-cult Commander in Enugwu-Ukwu, SP. Noel Uche last week.

The National President commended the new Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Monday Kunyas, and the Commander for the major breakthrough in arresting this kingpin and his wife, Nkiru Ikebuife, who was said to be an accomplice in the crime.

The culprits have caused serious mayhem to different organizations and individuals in the State whom they have duped one time or the other.

During the courtesy visit, about seven of the victims were present in the Anti-cult Command, Enugwu-Ukwu.

The NUF Boss appealed to the people to be wary of persons who meet them for help, claiming that they came from other African countries such as Ghana, Togo, Ivory Coast, among other African countries and need assistance to change their foreign currency.

The NUF National President said, “People should be careful of such individuals. This is one of their antics.

I urge Police to immediately arraign the suspect and the wife to serve as a deterrent to others.”

He urged the Police to intensify efforts to apprehend five other groups operating from the same Obosi, using Camry and tricycle (Keke) to carry out their criminal activities.

The NUF leader, therefore, appealed to the Inspector-General of Police ( IGP) to promote the Anti-Cult Commander, SP Uche Noel, and his team who burst the crime and arrested the hoodlums.
