Police arrest suspects linked to kidnap of LCDA Boss, killing of Oyo Biz mogul

The Oyo State Police Command of the Nigerian Police Force has apprehended four suspects linked with the abduction of Mr. Jacob Olayinwola, Chairman, Igangan Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
The police command equally paraded 44 other suspects over various degrees of alleged offenses including cultism, murder, rape, arson, armed robbery, and stealing among others, commited within the State.
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Ngozi Onadeko, while briefing newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan, disclosed that the suspects, who were armed with Ak-47 rifles abducted the chairman on the Igangan-Ado-Awaye road in Ibarapa LGA of the state.
She said the kidnapping gang members collected N5.5 million ransom before releasing their victims from their captivity.
The police boss said that the officers of the command later swung into action and arrested the suspects and recovered from them one double-barrel gun, one cut to size gun, and four live cartridges found in their possession.
The Commissioner of Police said men of the Command apprehended the kidnap cartels, namely 28-year-old Babuga Mohammadu, 37-year-old Rabiu Mohammadu, 30-year-old Usman Mohammed, and 26-year-old Aliyu Mohammed believed to have kidnapped the council chairman with their AK-47 rifle gun.
The suspected kidnappers were said to have confessed to the crime after their victims identified them.
“The kidnap syndicate, who was armed with an AK-47 rifle, confessed to the kidnapping of the chairman of Igangan LCDA, Adeleke Olayiwola, along Iganna/Ado-Awaye Road. They dispossessed him of all his personal effects and a ransom of N5.5million.
“Items that were recovered from the suspects include a double-barrel gun and one cut-to-size gun with four cartridges,” the police boss narrated.
Also paraded were Dahiru Usman, 35; Muhammadu Ahmadu, 32; and 20-year-old Ibrahim Mamudu, the suspected murders and masterminds of a farmer, Oluwole Agboola at Akinyele axis of Ibadan.
The notorious kidnap cabal, said to be armed to the teeth with sophisticated weapons of mass destruction, raided Agboola’s farm at Adegbede village via the Aba-Odo area some weeks ago whisking away their victim to an unidentified place.
The Police Commissioner said, “They contacted his relatives and collected a ransom of N1,650,000, yet brutally murdered him in the bush where he had been held hostage for several days. A discreet investigation by the crack team of police detectives led to the arrest of three members of the kidnap syndicate who all confessed to the crime.

CP Onadeko said that the suspects would soon be charged to court for the alleged offenses commited.
The Police Chief also paraded a 56-year-old suspect for defiling a 14-year-old girl at Bodija axis of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The CP revealed that the suspect gave the victim a Big Cola drink suspected to have been mixed with drugs.
She said that the drink induced the lady to be unconscious and the suspect had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.
CP Onadeko disclosed that once the investigation into the separate cases is completed, the police under her command will charge the suspects to court.
