PDP Chieftain Slain in Oyo State by Unknown Gunmen

The Murder of Dr. Fatai Aborode, a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Oyo State, by unknown gunmen, have been confirmed by the Nigerian Police Force.

Dr. Aborode was on Friday reportedly slaughtered by unidentified armed men on his farm along Apodun road, Igangan in the Ibarapa North Local Government Area of the state.

SP Olugbenga Fadeyi, the Oyo State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the terrible incident in a text message sent on Saturday to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ibadan.

It was gathered that Dr. Aborode, the deceased PDP chieftain was the Chief Executive Officer of Kunfayakun Green Treasures Limited, a private company.

SP Fadeyi confirmed that the late PDP chieftain was robbed and shot by 4 (four) unidentified armed men at about 5.50 p.m.

“At about 17:50 hrs of December 12, 2020, along Apodun road Igangan, one Alh Fatal Aborode ‘m’ of Igangan, was robbed and shot by four unknown gunmen,” he said.

“The victim was rushed to Olugbon hospital, Igboora where he was confirmed dead.

“Effort is on to arrest the fleeing assailants,’’ the report read in part.
NAN gathered that the deceased, along with his manager, was attacked when they were returning home.

The captain of the deceased company escaped gunshots as he reportedly fled the scene when the armed men ambushed.

Aborode was the House of Representatives candidate under the platform of Accord Party in the 2015 general election in Nigeria, vying to represent his constituency in the national assembly, and he was said to have recently defected to PDP.
