Fear grips residents of Imo State on Tuesday morning as angry Irete youths set ablaze a Divisional Police Headquarters situated at Ishinweke town in Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area Council.

Two police officers were also said to have sustained various degrees of injuries as a result of the unfortunate fracas, according to sources.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, when contacted, confirmed the ugly incident.

He said that men of the Police Command went for arrest and they were attacked by the youths of the area.

The PPRO also revealed that two policemen were wounded, adding that the youths freed already apprehended the suspect.

Ikeokwu also admitted that a youth was killed by the cop members when he said, a stray bullet hit one of the youths and he later died in a hospital.

The Police Spokesman disclosed that more police officers had been deployed to the station to forestall peace and calm down tension in the area.

He added that CP Narisu Muhammed, the State Commissioner of Police, had ordered an investigation into the incident to ensure that the violators of the law are brought to book.
