Residents of Ekka Echemmamah Ancient Kingdom, who lives in the Onueke urban in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria was greeted this morning with fear as the lifeless body of a young man was found in the pool of his blood within Ndụ-uwhu Ekka axis of the community.

The young man in his late twenties identified as Tuesday Nwokwu was seen dead with rope tied up on his legs to a tree behind a compound in the area.

Sources close to the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, confided in the news men that the deceased belongs to a deadly secret cult group, who have been terrorising the area for over five years now. They believe that his death is unconnected with the same devilish organisation he belongs to.

They went further to state that he might have been killed by another sect, in retaliation. He may have partaken in such brutal attack on their members.

” In his own words, ‘Anyone who kills by sword surely will die by sword’,” the anonymous source said.

“It has been long that we started talking to these children, (telling them) to desist from anything secret cult, since there is no positive gain in it if not untimely death, but they pay deafening ear to our advice. Everybody in Onueke – Ezza knows that Tuesday Nwokwu belongs to a secret cult group, and he had been playing active role in their dealings.”

From the source community, Tuesday Nwokwu as he appeared in life.

“I believe that he was killed by another rival cult group. They have been fighting and killing each other for no just cause. They creates fear among our people, and make us the innocent ones to be erroneously arrested by men of Nigerian police to pay for sins we did not commit”, the source added.

As it is usually in the case of murder scene and considering the activities of these notorious secret cult groups, there would have been massive arrest to be made by men of the Nigerian police force anti cult team SARS, which most times results to arrest of innocent citizens.

It will take the help of the member representing the good people of Ezza North/Ishielu Federal Constituency in the lower chamber of Nigerian National Assembly, Anayo Edwin-Nwoñu (Anatex), the councilor representing Ekka community in the local council Humphrey Chichorobi Nwali, and other well meaning individuals of the area, who swing into action to douse the tension in the land.

They are already working to this capacity by informing the police of the boy’s involvement in cult activities and hence preventing them from arresting innocent citizens.

There has been a series of killings ongoing at Onueke Ezza over the years, which is usually linked to the secret cult rivalries fighting for supremacy; and these killings occur every three months.
