Nigeria Military Troop of Operation Hadarin Daji has again rescued 10 victims of kidnap from bandits at Yenyewa Village in Zamfara following an intelligent gathering.
Maj. Gen. John Enenche, the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations on Tuesday, disclosed this in a statement to newsmen in Abuja.
According to Maj. Gen. Enenche, the Military Forces had on December 20 responded to a distress call on bandits’ activities in the area and engaged them squarely.
The Media Coordinator revealed that troops overwhelmed the hooligans with superior firearms and forced them to dump 10 kidnapped victims before they escaped in disarray running for their lives.
He said, “The rescued kidnapped victims have been reunited with their families.”
Enenche also disclosed that troops of Operation Whirl Stroke on Monday killed one bandit, apprehend two others in two separate encounters in Benue.
The Media Coordinator said the troops received a credible tip-off on the presence of some criminals around Anguwa-Onmbaagbu general axis in the state.
According to him, the robbers were linked to the recent murder of a Makurdi based legal luminary and his wife.
“Troops swiftly mobilized to the identified location where they had contact and engaged the criminals in the firefight.
“During the encounter, troops overwhelmed the bandits and killed one of them, while others fled with various degrees of gunshot wounds.
“Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle and a magazine loaded with four rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition from the criminal elements,” he said.
The Coordinator said that Forces equally swooped a bandits’ hideout at Abako community while acting on intelligence reports on activities of remnants of the late Gana’s militia gangs in parts of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state.
He added that troops during the encounter nabbed and handed over two bandits to the police for prosecution and further actions.
