Military rescues 10 abduction victims in Katsina & Zamfara

Nigeria Military have rescued 10 abducted victims from suspected bandits in two communities in Katsina and Zamfara State, in separate operations launched against the criminals.

According to reports, no fewer than seven persons were rescued on Thursday by the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, who were on routine patrol around Gidan Dan Nunu and Dutsi communities of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

In a statement on Friday by Maj. Gen. John Enenche, the Defence headquarters Public Relations Officer, the army officers engaged the hoodlums during an encounter and subsequently saved their captives.

In another operation, Forces of Forward Operating Base Dangulbi acting on credible security information that robbers were operating in Kimbisawa community of Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State, mobilized and rescued two women and a child abducted by the gangsters.

According to the statement titled, ‘Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji rescue kidnapped victims, neutralize bandits in Zamfara and Katsina States,’ the kidnap victims were immediately reunited with their families.

“The troops while on stop and search patrol arrested one Zayanu Abdullahi from Shinkafi district with a huge amount of money.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was involved in buying of stolen cows from bandits. Further investigation revealed that the suspect has been a collaborator with bandits. The suspect is in custody for further action,” the statement read.

In the same vein, troops on routine patrol along Batsari-Jibia road were attacked by bandits but the hooligans were overpowered by the personnel’s superior firearms.

“One bandit was neutralized while others escaped with gunshot wounds,” said the DHQ.
