Man shot dead by suspected hoodlums in Delta

A man whose identity is yet-to-be known has been shot dead by suspected armed robbers at Mofor Junction, Udu Local Government Council Area of Delta State.

The unfortunate incident happened at about 1 pm West African Time, Friday, with the unknown armed men making away with an undisclosed sum of money.

It was gathered that the victim, believed to be a lawyer, was attacked and gruesomely murdered in his car.

An eyewitness narrated that the victim had just withdrawn an undisclosed sum of money from a Point of Sale (POS) operator before he was accosted.

The source revealed that he was trailed by the criminals to the spot where he was shot before the hooligans made away with the cash.

According to sources, the victim died from a gunshot wound.

A resident of the area narrated, “They said the victim is a lawyer. That he just collected money from a POS operator. So the robbers followed him and shot him. The man is late. They said he didn’t survive it.”

When contacted, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer confirmed the unfortunate incident, adding that details were still sketchy, hence the Police cannot tell whether the victim survived the gunshot wound or not.

DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer, said “the DPO said it just happened. That the person was actually trailed from the bank, shot and his money taken away. Information right now is very sketchy. We are still trying to get information.”
