Herdsmen ambushed Ondo Amotekun, Kill two

Hoodlums believed to be herdsmen have killed two persons during an attack on officials of the Ondo State Security Outfit popularly known as Amotekun at the Government Forest Reserve located at Ago Sanusi along Ute Road in Owo, the axis of the state.
It was gathered that the herders laid an ambush against the security network who acting on a security report, stormed the Forest Reserve to fish out suspected criminal elements who reportedly kidnapped a man simply identified as Lanre, a farmer.
The security personnel later reportedly discovered Lanre’s lifeless body in the forest reserve with both hands chopped off.
According to reports, the herdsmen equally shot a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria who joined the Amotekun in the operation in the head.
The deadly attack on the security agency according to investigations occurred at around 2:00 am, the early hours of Friday.
Sources revealed that the herdsmen on rampage were armed with AK47, dressed like militiamen with live ammunition wrapped around their shoulders and waists.
Reports had it that the whereabout of Oluwasesan Adebayo, the head of Amotekun Operations in Owo, who led the operation is still yet unknown since the ugly development.
Pastor Idowu Adebayo, the younger brother of the missing security leader, said the family has been in grieves and serious pain since his kidnapping.
He called on the State Government and every security outfits in the state to intervene to facilitate the rescue of his brother.
Pastor Adebayo said that there are indications that Fulani herdsmen have a secret plot to take over the state and the entire Yoruba land (Southwest, Nigeria).
He said, “It is now clear that every part of the state has been invaded by the herdsmen thereby putting indigenes and other residents in great danger.
Speaking with newsmen, Abu Sikiru, a farmer at Sanusi camp, disclosed that he and other farmers at the camp have abandoned their farms for fear of being killed over what they don’t know.
Abu said that the camp and all other camps in the area have been deserted.
Recall that the Amotekun security network recently apprehended 15 illegal miners allegedly involved in illegal mining in the Owo community.
Meanwhile, the Amotekun commander in the state, Chief Adetunji Adeleye has confirmed the killing of two of his men by the herdsmen.
Speaking through Adebayo Ayeni, the corps’ spokesman in a statement, the commander said “Men of Ondo State Security Network Agency, (AMOTEKUN CORPS) has again made another breakthrough in their strive to get rid of criminal elements in Ondo State.
“This cartel were piling up arms and ammunition to invade the entire State while masquerading as herders and using the forest as kidnappers den for negotiation and ransom, illegal mining activities, and cultivation of Indian hemp.
“The Security outfits in conjunction with the Police, the Army, and other security agencies in the State, however, smoked them out of the forest, after it was discovered that the bandits had killed a farmer and a member of the vigilante group in the Area.
“They also went to the village where an Amotekun vehicle was parked and set it ablaze.
“We sympathize with the families of the victims of this dastardly act while assuring them that the culprits will surely be apprehended,” he added.
