Gunmen storm military base in Niger, kill soldiers, kidnap 10, razed vehicles

Unknown gunmen believed to be bandits have reportedly ambushed the Joint Security Task Force camp which comprises of the Army, Police, Civil Defence, and Vigilantes at Allawa in Niger State and opened fire on them, killing a yet to be known number of soldiers in the process.
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Officer was equally killed in the attack while many security agents sustained various degrees of injury.
Over 10 persons were also kidnapped, with seven motorcycles stolen and military vehicles set ablaze in attacks that occurred on Wednesday and in the early hours of Thursday.
The bandits attacked Allawa, Manta, Gurmana, Bassa, and Kokki communities in Shiroro Local Government Council of Niger State.
According to eyewitnesses, the bandits carried out their onslaught against Manta, Gurmana, and Bassa villages on Wednesday, where one Alhaji Sale in the Madalla community was reportedly killed, while four persons were abducted.
Reacting to the unfortunate incident, the President, Shiroro Youth Movement, Mohammed Sani Idris, revealed that the bandits, in 100s, were armed with AK47 and raided the communities for about five unabated hours.
“During the invasion, they killed one Alhaji Sale in Madalla community under Bassa ward and kidnapped four people and went away with two motorcycles,’ he said.
“Also in Kokki Boddo, a community under Gurmana ward, they abducted six persons and took away five motorcycles, five people were also kidnapped in Manta ward.”
